How to scrap your car in Sutton

It's so easy to get your old scrap car towed away in Sutton.

  1. Get in touch and tell us the details of your scrap car as well as arrange a time for collection.
  2. We pick up the car together with its logbook at the arranged time. If you prefer you can mail the logbook to us before we come to collect your car. (If you do not have the logbook we can still scrap the car but you will need to let us know prior to us towing it away and you will need to inform the DVLA in writing of your intention to have the car scrapped.)
  3. You get section 9 of the logbook back, together with an intent of destruction certificate.
  4. You should then send section 9 to the DVLA.
  5. We mail the remainder of the logbook to the DVLA, make a SORN (let them know that the car is off the road) and tell them that the vehicle can now be de-registered.
  6. The DVLA should notify you within 4 to 6 weeks.

What happens to your scrap car?

Once we've towed away your old car for scrap we will remove any parts that can be reused in some way (such as the tyres and the battery). Then we remove the catalytic converter and other parts which can be recycled. Any fuel remaining in the fuel talk is removed, any hazardous parts are also removed from your scrap car. It is only then that the vehicle can be crushed.
